Maserati Mexico (coloured)

"Prestige, elegance, safety and plenty of space in a high-performance car."

Unlike other four-seater Maserati coupés, the Maserati Mexico was not named after a racetrack. The name Mexico was chosen because the 5000 GT, which served as the prototype, once belonged to Mexican President Adolfo López Mateos and returned to Mexico after its unveiling at the 1965 Turin Motor Show. It was truly fitting, though entirely coincidental, that John Surtees ended the 1966 Formula 1 season with a convincing win at the Mexican Grand Prix at the wheel of a Cooper-Maserati T81.
