Maserati 5000 GT

The worldwide success of the 3500 GT drew great attention to the Maserati marque. However, some customers demanded an even more exclusive Gran Turismo from Maserati. At the special request of the Shah of Persia, the 5000 GT was born. Its powerful V8 engine came from the 450S racing car, with which Juan Manuel Fangio and Jean Behra had won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1957. The engine output was unprecedented for a road car at the time. Only 34 examples of the 5000 GT were built, with bodies produced by the most famous coachbuilders in the world.
